You have full control over your data on One. You can delete your entire account, or delete specific data while keeping your account active.

Delete your entire account

You can delete your One account in two ways. Either method removes your account permanently.

Option 1: From inside the app (fastest)

  1. Open One on your phone.
  2. Tap Profile at the top of the screen.
  3. Tap the gear icon (top-right corner of the profile screen).
  4. Tap Delete account.
  5. Confirm when prompted. Your account is removed immediately.

Option 2: By email (if you no longer have the app installed)

  1. Send an email to hello@joinone.app from the email address associated with your One account.
  2. Use the subject line: Delete my account.
  3. We will verify your identity by replying from hello@joinone.app.
  4. Once verified, your account is deleted within 7 days.
  5. You will receive a confirmation email at the same address once deletion is complete.

Delete specific data without deleting your account

You can remove specific items from your account at any time, from inside the app.

Photos

  1. Tap Profile at the top of the screen.
  2. Tap Edit.
  3. Tap the × on the photo you want to remove. The photo is deleted immediately.

Bio, prompts, and questionnaire responses

  1. Tap Profile at the top of the screen.
  2. Tap Edit.
  3. Edit or clear any field. Prompts save automatically as you type; for other fields, tap Save changes to apply.

Conversation history with a specific match

  1. Open the conversation.
  2. Tap the ⋯ icon (top-right corner of the conversation).
  3. Tap Unmatch. The match and the entire conversation history, including all voice messages sent and received, are deleted for both you and the other person.

What we delete

When you delete your account, we permanently remove:

  • Your profile information (name, age, gender, location, bio, prompts, questionnaire responses)
  • Your photos
  • Your voice messages, sent and received
  • Your match history and conversation history
  • Your contact details (email address, phone number)
  • Your account credentials and authentication tokens
  • Any preferences or settings tied to your account

When you delete specific data (photo, bio field, or conversation), only the items you’ve chosen are removed. The rest of your account is unaffected.

What we retain, and for how long

A small amount of data is retained after deletion, for legal and safety reasons:

  • Transaction records: retained for 7 years to comply with Australian Taxation Office record-keeping requirements for businesses. This includes the fact of your purchase and the amount, but no profile content.
  • Email addresses (re-registration prevention): retained when an account is deleted, used solely to prevent the same email from being re-registered to claim a new free account. Stored separately from your active account data and used for no other purpose.
  • Safety and abuse prevention records: if your account was the subject of a report, block, or community guideline action, we retain a record of that action to prevent banned users from rejoining under a new identity. This record contains no profile content.
  • Anonymised aggregate analytics: retained indefinitely, but no longer connected to your account or to any personally identifying information.

All retained data is encrypted at rest and is never used for any other purpose.
